This summer, Hawkes Transitional Residence received a charitable makeover that resulted in 31 breathtaking works of art! Interior designer Vanessa De Vargas and interior design writer and editor Vanessa Kogevinas came to us with the idea to have a select group of some of Los Angeles's top interior designers donate their time to fully redecorating a room each to extraordinary levels of functionality and aesthetic quality.
It was a wonderful surprise and a project that we are very grateful to have been a part of! The designers as a group donated their time & materials, securing vendors to do the work and garnering donations for all the products necessary to redo a room; everything from beds to sheets to lighting to drapes to accessories.
On July 23rd and 24th, public and press were invited to view the newly designed rooms.
Over thirty designers were there to welcome guests and to answer any questions they might have. More than 600 people from the community took advantage of this opportunity. They left in awe & appreciation at what a few people could do to transform a single bedroom into a living space anyone would be proud to call home. The rooms will be occupied by women who are transitioning from homelessness into permanent housing.
Please stop by to see Hawkes’ incredible transformation and the talent of these generous designers. The response from willing designers was so great, that the communal living area received a makeover as well and is almost always available for viewing. You may call the development offices at 213-482-1834 to schedule your tour.
