The Auxiliary of Good Shepherd Center hosted its' Forget-Me-Not luncheon
October 8, 2011 at the Wilshire Country Club

The Auxiliary of Good Shepherd Center held its annual Forget-Me-Not luncheon at the Wilshire Country Club to raise money for the shelter. Approximately 200 friends and supporters of Good Shepherd attended the event. The day’s activities included a silent auction, with lovely baskets prepared by the auxiliary, a raffle, delicious food and great conversation!

Each year, a guest who has made a significant contribution to the center is honored. This year, Vanessa Kogevinas and Vanessa De Vargas were honored for organizing the Design Project at Hawkes Transitional Residence. All materials and labor were donated as a gift of love from over thirty of Los Angeles's most gifted designers. Glendale residentsand Auxiliary members Mary & Paul Wight were honored with the "From the Heart" Award. 

Past honorees have included Marion Plato and Susan Kneafsey from the National Garment Association (NGA), Marilyn Roberts, a longtime member of the Auxiliary and devoted volunteer at Languille Emergency Shelter, and Sr. Julia Mary Farley, founder of GSC.

Good Shepherd Center hosted our annual Homeless No More Gala on Thursday evening, May 12th at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The event honored Gloria and Richard Pink and Beverly Pink Wolfe of Pink's Hot Dogs for their good works and support. Board members Timi Loomos Freshman and Carolyn Ludwig co-chaired the benefit which welcomed 350 guests and featured a live and silent auction and music by The Martini Kings. Celebrity chef and radio personality Jamie Gwen emceed the event. Guests sampled Pink's hot dogs and enjoyed a gourmet dinner and entertainment, while celebrating 27 years of Good Shepherd Center's important work in the community.

On November 20, 2010, The Young Professionals Group hosted its 9th annual benefit for Good Shepherd Center. Over 150 guests enjoyed an elegant evening at TAG Gallery that included cocktails, hors d’oeuvres provided by The Village Kitchen and a highly competitive and fun silent auction and raffle. Guests enjoyed the party while remembering its purpose as a means to assist homeless women and children in Los Angeles. Through YPG’s efforts, over $20,000 was raised in support of Good Shepherd Center’s programs. Stay tuned for details regarding YPG’s 10th annual benefit in 2011.

The Young Professionals Group is dedicated to empowering young men and women to serve the Los Angeles homeless community. YPG provides fundraising and volunteering for Good Shepherd Center while offering its members social and networking opportunities. For more information visit www.ypgla.org.
