Aux_HonoreeGood Shepherd Center’s Auxiliary held their annual Forget-Me-Not luncheon at the Wilshire Country Club, October 22, 2012, to raise money for the shelter. Kathleen Hannon Aikenhead of the Hannon Foundation was honored for her many years of dedication and generosity to Good Shepherd Center. More than 150 friends and supporters attended the event.

Every year the Auxiliary honors one of its own members that have made an outstanding contribution with the “From the Heart” Award. This year the award went to Mary Kane, a volunteer at GSC for more than ten years. Mary’s volunteer services began by answering the phones at the emergency shelter. She is now assisting at the development offices where you will find her every Monday afternoon.

Guest speaker, Caroline Amaya, a young graduate of the GSC program, spoke about her success since she and her mother moved into their own apartment in 2011. Hearts were touched as she expressed gratitude for the support they received and the friendships made while living at Good Shepherd Center’s Angel Guardian Home.

The days’ events included a silent auction, a delicious lunch, and an opportunity to mingle with the honorees and other supporters of Good Shepherd Center. Barbara Widders was the proud winner of a trip for two to Hawaii, which was donated by Kathleen and William Hannon.Aux_MaryKAux_Sophie_CarolinaAux_Silent_AuctionAux_Andrea_Judy_SrAAux_Bev_TableAux_Christine_TableAux_SrRosaline_Table

An Evening of Surprises, a gala to benefit Good Shepherd Center, was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on March 17, 2012. Benefit Co-Chairs Pauline Micelli & Pasquale Vericella, Board President William Dahlman, Center Director Sr. Anne Tran and the Good Shepherd Center board give a heartfelt thank you to everyone that participated.  Rhea & Mark Wahlberg were honored for their active involvement in the community and their support of worthy causes such as Good Shepherd Center.  A bit of humor was welcomed by our Master of Ceremonies, Seth Mac Farlane.

A delicious dinner, a live auction, a silent auction, entertaining speakers and great music were all part of the evening’s program. Caroline Amaya, a young graduate of the GSC program spoke about her challenges and her successes but added that her years at Good Shepherd Center were pivotal for her family.  Music was performed by West Coast Music with a special performance by The Love Project, Good Shepherd Center’s own residents’ choir. We promised an evening of surprise and it was delivered! Once again thank you for all that participated and contributed to make this evening a success!
